It’s told that Galata Tower and Maiden’s Tower are in love with each other. Bosphorus between them makes this love impossible. One day Hezarfen Ahmet Çelebi climbed the Galata tower. His purpose was to fly from European side to Asian side of Istanbul. Succumbing to the Galata Tower’s insistance, he decided to carry Galata Tower’s letters with him on his flight.
Hezarfen Ahmet Çelebi dropped the letters to Maiden’s Tower when he was approaching the Salacak coast. Letters got caught in the wind and reached the Maiden’s Tower. Maiden’s Tower understands that her love is mutual and gets even more beautiful. Therefore, Galata Tower understands that Maiden’s Tower is in love with him too. Staring at each other but never being united, their love challenges years and creates the most beautiful view of Istanbul. This is why Galata Tower unites the lovers.
If a man and a woman climbs the Galata Tower together, they are destined to get married. But if the couples’ destiny forbids them from being together, Galata Tower prevents them from climbing it. If one of the man or woman climbed the tower before, this magic wouldn’t work.
